Tennis

Welcome to Columbia Golf & Country Club’s Tennis Section!

Two tennis courts are located adjacent to the golf course. Surrounded by mature cedar trees, the courts are available from dawn to dusk, April through September. The following is information about our tennis program.

Finding a Partner:
We provide a clearing house for information about tennis playing members who would like to find other members who play at a similar level. To register for this service, we ask that you use the USTA’s self assessment tool, which can be found at http://www.usta.com/Play-Tennis/USTA-League/Information/About_NTRP/ to determine your level of play.

We also need your name, telephone, and email address, as well as your interest in singles, doubles, or both.

All of the information should be emailed to the club office (colgolf@mhcable.com). This information is then posted on the club’s bulletin boards, and in the Members only section of the website.

Players are then encouraged to contact other players directly.

Our tennis professional, Eli Armstrong, is also happy to suggest other players of similar ability.

Lessons:
Eli Armstrong is also available for lessons. More information about charges and times can be found below. Or you may contact Eli directly at 518-779-7663. Eli also restrings rackets.

Court Reservations:
Court reservations may be made by calling the Pro Shop at 518-851-9894 or visiting the Pro Shop. Reservations are for one hour periods. If no one claims the court by ten minutes past the hour of play, members may continue play for an additional hour. One court is reserved for use by the club’s tennis professional. This court is available for general member use if not required by the tennis professional, and is available for reservation 24 hours in advance.

Please sign in at the Pro Shop before beginning play.

Dress Code:
Appropriate tennis attire is required, essentially similar to that required to play golf.

In addition, it is very important that only non-marking tennis shoes be worn on the courts to avoid creating drag marks, or damaging the court surface with hard soles.

Lockers:
Some lockers are available for the season, first come, first served, at $50 for the season. Please contact the Pro Shop if you are interested.

Tennis Balls and Supplies:
Tennis balls and some tennis accessories (wristbands, headbands, etc) are available in the Pro Shop.

Food:
Food and beverages are available at the restaurant window, near the middle entrance to the club house. However, food should be eaten off the court. There is also cold water available from the water container at the court entrance nearest the 10th tee.

Guest Fee:
$3 per guest per day.

Tennis Professional:
We are happy to announce that Eli Armstrong is returning for his second season as Tennis Professional at Columbia Golf & Country Club. Eli is a certified tennis professional with over 30 years' experience at various clubs, resorts, academies, and organizations. He founded and operated his own tennis academy in Antigua for over 20 years.  Eli is currently in his third season as the Head Tennis Professional at the Old Chatham Tennis Club.
